Bengaluru: Usha Rani felicitated by DCM for winning Asiad women’s kabaddi silver medal

Bengaluru, Aug 29: Deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara felicitated Usha Rani for winning silver medal in the Women Kabaddi Section at Asian Games held in Indonesia.

Dr Parameshwara, who holds the Home and Bengaluru Development portfolios, felicitated Usha Rani at a function in Bengaluru on Tuesday, August 28.

Presenting a cheque for Rs 15 lac on behalf of the State Youth Services and Sports department, he lauded the efforts put in by the player and wished her all the best to enable her to win gold medal in future.

Dr Parameshwara said the government would consider relaxing existing rules to encourage more sports people to join the police department.

He assured that Usha Rani, who had joined the service as a constable, would be elevated to ‘B’ grade post.

The deputy chief minister said Rohan Bopanna and Faud Mirza, who excelled in the Asian Games would also be felicitated soon.

Additional chief secretary Rajneesh Goel, director general of police Neelamani N Raju and others attended the function.
