Mangaluru, Aug 28: "We will launch World Alzheimer's month on September 1, at Kadri Park at 7.30 am where there will be a huge assembly of elders and youth, from medical students, doctors, engineers, businessmen, government officers, a whole across section of society, " announced Jerardin D'Souza, founder Mangalore Alzheimer's Association (MAA) and secretary of People's Association for Geriatric Empowerment (PAGE).
"Prevention of risk factors, early detection of Dementia, care and early cure is an effective manner to handle Dementia," said Dr Prabha Adhikari, vice president, of PAGE. She addressed a press meet on Tuesday August 28 at the Press Club.
"Alzheimer's is a sad disease, where we must care for the families and support the caregivers by relieving them for breaks" said Dr Olinda Pereira, president of PAGE.
"We have supported MAA and PAGE earlier as well and with our director Prabhaker Rao meeting Jerardin D'Souza, we at MCF are supporting the Alzheimer's month as the main sponsors. We use our CSR for many purposes like Swachh Bharat, constructing toilets etc," said Suresh, DGM of MCF.
"There will be talks, on TV, radio, at institutions, hospitals and other activities throughout the month," said Jerardin.
Mohanraj, secretary of PAGE who was on stage was praised for his connectivity and service to elders.
"Dr Prabha has invited everyone to Kadri Park on September 1 at 7.30 am, where the district judge, police commissioner, MLA, minister, DC, DHO and other dignitaries will be present," she said.
The media persons clarified several doubts about Alzheimer's disease which were explained by Dr Prabha.
It was a genuine effort to reach out to society and help make Mangaluru Dementia friendly.
