Udupi: Adani UPCL declares Rs one crore CSR grant for Belapu gram panchayat

Udupi, Aug 26: Adani owned UPCL, which is operating power plant in Yellur village on Sunday, August 26, declared CSR grant of Rs one crore for village developments works at Belapu village for the year 2018-19.

Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of Belapu gram panchayat and UPCL’s joint president Kishore Alva mutually exchanged the action plan and the letter of grant in the premises of Belapu gram panchayat. The action plan contained the list of development works to be carried out in the villages of Belapu gram panchayat by Adani UPCL under its CSR for the year 2018-19.

In his welcome speech, Dr Deviprasad welcomed the CSR activities being executed by Adani UPCL under the leadership of Kishore Alva. He told that UPCL, after taking over by Adani Group is giving importance for the village development works and has declared special grant under its CSR. He appreciated the way UPCL is executing the works based on the action plans submitted by the surrounding gram panchayats. He also told that none of the Industries or Companies have executed development works in the rural areas and Adani UPCL, by way of its massive CSR activities in the field of Education, Rural Infrastructure Development, Health, has created a revolution in the history of CSR. Further he added that Belapu village is one of the model village in the Asia continent and Adani’s CSR initiatives for infrastructure development in the village is an added advantage to the Panchayat.

Accepting the Kriya Yojane (Action Plan), Kishore Alva informed that UPCL has begun its CSR activities in Belapu gram panchayat with the set-up of Safe Drinking Water Unit and the Mobile Health Service. He told that it is proud that Adani UPCL is the neighbor of Belapu village, which has won the status of Model village in the Asian Country. He further told that Adani UPCL has declared a CSR grant of Rs 22.73 crore solely for the village development works in nearby 7 gram panchayats, for execution for a period of 3 years. Under this grant, Belapu gram panchayat has been declared a grant of Rs 3 crore for a period of 3 years and till date company has executed village development works worth Rs 71.85 lac and works worth Rs.40 lakhs are in pipe-line. Developments to crematorium, construction of auto rickshaw stand, concreting of Patel Road, Vinayanagar Ashraya Colony Road, developments to Malai Jumadi, developments to Jarandaya Temple, developments to Janata Colony Road, Ayyappa Road, Badriya Masjid development, construction of Anganawadi centre are few of the activities executed in the year 2016-17 and 2017-18, he told.

Alva, further informed that the Action Plan contains the list of development works worth Rs. 1 crore and it would be taken-up soon by Adani UPCL for execution. He also told that Adani UPCL has already planted saplings in the lands identified by Belapu panchayat and would be maintained for a period of 3 years. In addition to the execution of rural infrastructure development works worth Rs 1 crore, Adani UPCL will also be continuing other CSR activities like education kits, scholarships, medical grant, safe drinking water, he added.

Kishore Alva informed that the action plan contained the works of concreting of Janata Colony Road, Malangoli Khan Road, Paniyuru Vishwakarma Colony road, Paniyuru Shiva Gujaran Road, Belapu Railway Station Road, Patel Road, developments to panchayat building, developments to Paniyuru Jarandaya Lake, construction of Adani Library, which Adani UPCL will soon take-up for execution.

U C Shekabba, member of taluk panchayat, Karunakara Shetty, Dinesh Poojari, Sharath, Noorjahan, Usha and Vijayalakshmi, members of panchayat, Girish Navada, AGM of UPCL, Ravi Jere, senior manager of UPCL, Vineet Anchan, Anudeep Poojary from Adani Foundation were present on the occasion.
