Udupi: Bannanje Raja bereaved - may participate in funeral if court permits

Udupi, Aug 26: Mother of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja from here, who is currently lodged in Belagavi prison, lost her life. Vilasini Shettigar (78), slipped at her home on Saturday August 25 and breathed her last.

Sources said that if the court permits Raja to take part in the funeral of his mother, the funeral might be postponed to enable him to participate in it.

Vilasini, a retired teacher, was living in a house near the government college at Malpe. When working at home, she accidentally slipped and fell down. This fall proved fatal, as her head banged against the floor and she suffered critical injuries to her head. She was immediately taken to KMC Hospital, Manipal. The doctors there, who examined her, confirmed that Vilasini was no more.

It may be recalled that Bannaje Raja had visited his mother sometime back after obtaining permission from the high court, to meet her and enquire about her well-being. Vilasini is survived by husband and children.

    Sad that a 78 year old fell while working at home... god know how much she had suffered mentally becoz of his son.... He may be a criminal, but for a mother that too being so old, she might have missed her son...and she might have had so many sleepless nights becoz of her son.... i really feel sad for her.. let her soul atleast rest in peace... may be bannanje raj is not fit to be called as a human being... but all others are.. so on humanitarian basis he should be allowed to see his mother for the last time... whatever he is ... one day everyone are going to die...so let him get a chance to see his mother... but police should not sleep when he is out...

    Afterall its her last rites.let him come .He wont be having another chance to see her and conduct last rites.Only should be watched and let him be brave and not think of jumping over the hump.

    He has tortured and destroyed several families and businessmen. He lived without humanity! Its a question whether he deserves humanity treatment!! He should remain in prison for rest of his life, at least until he is sick and unable to walk!!

    Under our judical system any fugitive can live like king without a great difficulty. Offcourse need bribe. He doesnt't deserve any humanity. If in case you and me are the decision maker you know the result.

    What a foolish statememt. A druggist allowed anti nationals to keep arms and ammunition at his home to be latter used during mumbai attack. How did divya bharthi died. She known there plan in advance..thrown out of window. Sanjay Dutt friend of Hanif Lakadwala and Salim Hingorni of Magnum Video...all close to abu salem. As dutt family close to nehru family taken advantage thru priys..siddique..congress govt led by deshmukh to come out of prison often. If sanju informed earlier there plan to police in advance would have avoided mumbai blast.
