Madikeri, Aug 24: The rains have reduced in the district of Kodagu which was ravaged due to incessant rains and subsequent landslides. Tthe work of rescuing domestic animals is in progress. Activists of animal welfare organizations are engrossed in the work of rescuing the animals which are stuck in the affected areas.

During one such operation, a cow, which was immersed in the sludge since seven days and was also under a pile of mud at Kalur, a small village of the taluk, was miraculously saved by the villagers.

The cow was in the precarious state due to the collapse of the hill. Only the head of the cow was visible from the pile of the mud. It was just blinking the eyes, though it did not consume any water, hay or food for the past seven days. The villagers who saw this rescued the cow after working relentlessly for two hours to clear the sludge and mud around it. The injured cow is currently being given first aid and food.
