Kundapur, Aug 24: BJP leader and vice president of Kundapur municipal council Rajesh Kaveri was expelled from BJP on Thursday, August 23.
He had submitted his nomination to contest as an independent from the eleventh ward in Kundapur municipal council elections. BJP Kundapur Vidhan Sabha constituency was unhappy that Rajesh Kaveri was contesting against a BJP candidate. Kaveri has been expelled from BJP primary membership for six years after discussions held with Kaveri to withdraw nominations failed.
Rajesh had remained with BJP without joining any other faction during the last elections.
BJP block president Suresh Shetty Kadoor and chief secretaries Bhasker Billava and Shanker Ankadakatte in a joint letter dated August 23 to Rajesh Kaveri stated that Rajesh Kaveri has submitted nomination on August 18 to contest as independent. “Even though senior party leaders held discussions with you to withdraw nomination soon after the matter came to their notice, you have not backed down. As contesting elections against party’s official candidate amounts to anti party activity, you have been expelled from primary membership of the party for six years from August 23.”
