Udupi: Two-wheeler rider waylaid, stabbed, robbed of valuables

Udupi, Aug 22: In an incident which happened opposite West Coast Chemicals at Brahmavar near here at around 11.45 pm on Monday August 20, a two-wheeler rider was waylaid by a gang. He was stabbed with a knife and his cellphone and gold chain were robbed by the gang which then fled from the spot.

The victim of this incident was Jagadeesh (38), resident of Agrahara Road in Chantaru village near Brahmavar.

Jagadeesh was riding his Honda Activa two-wheeler when an unidentified person walking by the road suddenly intercepted him. The stranger tried to pull away the gold chain Jagadeesh was wearing around his neck but he resisted. Two others who were nearby suddenly pounced on Jagadeesh and held him tight. When Jagadeesh struggled to get out of their grip, the attackers stabbed his stomach with a knife, Jagadeesh said in his complaint.

The gang then took away two cellphones, a gold chain worth Rs 70,000 and the key bunch pertaining to his shop which they found in Jagadeesh's pocket. The gang reportedly escaped on a two-wheeler thereafter.

On the basis of Jagadeesh's complaint, police personnel of Brahmavar station have registered a case and begun investigation.
