Bengaluru: Driverless goods auto crushes toddler to death

Bengaluru, Aug 22: A two-year-old child lost its life after a three-wheeler auto rickshaw transporting goods moved over the child that was playing opposite a house at Manjushree Layout here on Monday August 20.

The deceased  child is identified as Dhanasai (2), son of Dhananjay, an astrologer by profession and his wife, Manusha, who hail from Hosadoddi village near Bidadi. The couple along with their child had come to attend the housewarming ceremony of a relative at Manjushree Layout. Police personnel said that auto driver, Rajeev Gandhi, whose negligence apparently caused this death, stands arrested.

Dhananjay's relative, Poornima, has built a new house in Manjushree Layout. Dhanasai, who had attended the function with his parents, was playing along with other children in front of the said house at around 4.30 pm on Monday. At that time, Poornima arrived there with things collected from her previous residence loaded into a goods rickshaw. The driver who parked the vehicle in front of her house was unloading things one by one. As the vehicle was kept on a road which has a slope, the three-wheeler suddenly started to move forwarded and hit Dhanasai, police personnel said.

The parents of the child filed complaint of negligence against the driver of the auto rickshaw in K R Pura station
