Udupi, Jun 15: Nirmala English Medium School (NEMS), Brahmavar held school parliament to elect students representative as School Pupil Leader (SPL) and Assistant School Pupil Leader (ASPL). The voting at the school was for students from classes 6th to 10th. Three students of Class X contested for SPL and three students of Class IX for ASPL post.
Kavitha welcomed the gathering and given instructions to the students. The scouts and guides were scrutinising for the voting tables with ballot papers and ink. Principal Fr Joslie D’Silva called the students to vote the right candidate (leader of the school) saying, “Leader is the one who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way.”
Being the first exposure to voting system, students of class six were given instructions of the whole process starting from marking of ‘ink’ on the right forefinger to the way of casting their votes. Contestants, who were from classes X and IX introduced themselves and if they were chosen, promised to render the services to the school loyally. The school’s auditorium turned into a polling booth where five voting tables were placed on either side to enable faster voting.
The total number of students present for the voting were 236.
Neha Sara of Class X was declared the winner as SPL and Sugam of Class IX as ASPL.
