Mangaluru, Jun 6: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School, Karangalpady celebrated World Environment Day on Tuesday, June 5.
The Chief guest Anantha Padmanabha Rao, a retired Botany professor from SVS College spoke about environmental issues and how to preserve nature. He also imparted knowledge about protecting lots of environment resources for future use. He requested the students to concentrate on environmental activities.
Correspondent Fr Eric Mathias presented the chief guest with saplings. The correspondent then interacted with the little Aloysians on the occasion. Nearly 150 enthusiastic students were given saplings to plant in their houses and school premises.
Fr Eric Mathias, headmistress Philomena Lewis, and the vice-president of the PTA Rekha Fernandes were present for the programme. Meanwhile, Vijaya Karnataka newspaper conducted a drawing competition in the school on the topic ‘Plastic-free Environment’.
