Doha : Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) Celebrates Monti Fest

Doha, Sep 13:  ‘Monthi Fest ‘a family festival of Love Peace Culture and Emotions was celebrated together as one family by the members of Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha Qatar. This celebration with pomp and glory was held in the Seraphic Multi Purpose Hall, at the parish center. This gathering was attended in large numbers by the association members and their families.


The program began at 6.30 pm with a prayer and showering of flowers to Infant Mary by the children. Roce mixed with Noven was distributed to all members. A short stage program was conducted wherein Chief Guest of the evening Rev. Fr. Xavier Gomes, principal of St. Philomena College Puttur and the Advisory committee members of the association where invited on stage and honored with flowers. Mr. Harry Lobo, President MCA welcomed the guests and the gathering. The Chief Guest of the evening Fr. Gomes gave his meaningful message for the occasion. He was very much impressed by the aims and objectives of MCA. He appreciated the work of the association members and emphasized all members to continue work with the same spirit and prayed God’s blessings on them.

On behalf of the Advisory Committee Felix Lobo addressed the MCA family and gave his Monthi Fest message. He also spoke on the achievements of the Association in the short span of time and the main aim of helping the poorest of the poor in our home town.
















Mr. Wilfred Fernandes, a member of the advisory committee spoke a few words of encouragement to the members.
Cultural program began with a dance by small children for a meaningful song composed by Wilfy Rebimbus from the Konkani film “Bogsanne”which describes the culture and tradition of this feast. This dance was perfomed by Austin Lobo / Anna Pais / Nolan Quadros / Anisha Lobo  / Arvin Pais  & Alita Lobo and was choreographed by Veena Rebimbus Pais. Wilson Mendonca, Roshan D’souza, Abraham Rebeiro and Aneta Rebimus sang some beautiful Konkani songs and entertained the gathering. Jonita Pinto performed a wonderful filmy dance and kept the crowd swinging to the beats of “Dolna” Rajastani folk dance. Spot games and Bingo were conducted. Fancy dress competition was organized on this occasion which was judged by  Mabel Fernandes and Priya D’Souza.

The highlight of the evening was a Rib tickling Comedy Skit “ Kutmacho Therse” written and directed by CGS Taccode. The skit was enacted by Noel D’Souza, Leena Lobo, Donald Lobo, Dorothy Quadros and Wilma D’Souza. Back Stage assistance was provided by Abraham Rebeiro and Dolly Lobo

Prizes were distributed to the winners of Fancy Dress Competition, all participants and all performers. A token of love was gifted to all the MCA family members present for this celebration.

Finally a Grand Delicious Home made pure Vegetarian Dinner was served to all. This dinner was prepared by the Executive committee members and their families. Sumptuous ‘Roce’ & ‘Vorn’ was specially prepared by Mrs. Stephany Lobo.

Mr. Cyril G Sequeira mastered the ceremony in his own unique style. Games were organised by Mr. Arthur Pais , Mr. Jason Quadros and Mrs. Susan Rodrigues. Bingo was conducted by Mrs. Aneta Rebimus. Mr. Alwyn Almeida thanked one and all who made this evening a memorable one.

The members gathered could clearly note the efforts put in by the executive committee members as it was well organized and appreciated by one and all.

This evening turned out to be an evening to be placed in the memory lane of all 150 members present at the ‘Seraphic Multipurpose Hall’ at the parish center Doha for a long long time.
