Udupi, May 8: Medha N Bhat from here has bagged the second rank in the SSLC examination in the state. She secured a total of 624 out of 625.
Medha is a student of TA Pai, English Medium High school and resides in Manipal. Medha lost one mark in English, scoring 124 out of 125. She secured cent per cent in Social Science, Mathematics, Science, Kannada and Hindi.
Medha is the daughter of Dr Narasimha, CEO of Manipal.net Company and Shashikala, a homemaker.
Speaking to Daijiworld Media, Medha said daily revision helped her to understand the concept. “I used to spend three to four hours in study everyday. I expected a higher score, but I am happy I got a rank”.
Attributing her success to her parents and teachers, she said, “My parents and teachers have supported and encouraged me a lot. They have guided me at every step. I never went to coaching classes. I like to listen to music in my free time. I did not panic about the exam. I am interested in English literature, but for now I plan to opt Science in PUC. Later on, I will choose the subject that interests me."
Her mother Shashikala said, “I am very happy about her achievement. It feels great and she deserves it. She has put in a lot of hard work to score high marks. She never kept her daily school work or any notes pending. She did her work in a planned manner and did not keep it until the deadline. Whatever she does, it is with full dedication. Medha is like her father in terms of achieving her goal. She is a very keen observer."
“Anybody can achieve, it is not tough. There is no shortcut to achieving something. Students should focus on what they are doing. They should be ready to take up responsibility to achieve something,” Shashikala added.
Udupi deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis congratulated Medha and all the other students who passed SSLC. “It is efforts of the teachers and students and the entire team. I congratulate all of them. I think girls have always been performing better at SSLC exams. That is the scenario every year so it is turning into a good trend and I hope they continue their higher education,” she said.
