Udupi, Apr 10: The ICYM diocese here on Sunday April 8 organized a 'Youth Dazzle 2K18' at St Mary’s School open stage, Kanarpady. Around 250 members participated in the various competitions.
ICYM Karkala town unit turned out overall winners and ICYM Piusnagar unit bagged the runners trophy of Youth Dazzle 2K18.
The programme began with a holy eucharistic celebration. Various competitions such as panel session, CAD EXCEL, poem writing, collage, face painting, job care, Biblical mime, group dynamics and various other cultural events followed.
Janet Barboza former panchayat member was the moderator of the first event, a panel session.
Christian D’Almeida, president of NSUI Udupi district, Dion D'Souza president, ICYM Udupi deanery and Aldrin D’Souza, member of ICYM central council were the three panelists for the session. They spoke on various trending topics such as involvement of Catholic youth in politics and various other leadership aspects wherein the ICYM youth were inspired to extend their service. The panel session concluded with various questions from the gathered ICYM members and a conclusion from Janet Barboza.
Fr Edwin D’Souza, director of ICYM Udupi diocese addressed the youth over the importance of taking part and voting in the elections 2018. He also stressed on various aspects where the youth had to focus on. Fr Sandesh conducted an ice breaking session.
Many other competitions were conducted and cultural events were presented.
The programme concluded with valedictory in the evening. Fr Alban D’Souza, parish priest of Stella Maris Church Kalmady was the chief guest. Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor, Udupi diocese presided over the valedictory function.
Fr Reginald Pinto, director Sampada, Udupi diocese, Fr Herald Periera, director commission for Small Christian Communities (SCC), Udupi diocese, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, director ICYM Udupi deanary, Walter D'Souza, animator ICYM Udupi diocese, were present for the event.
Sharline D’Sa, president ICYM Udupi deanary welcomed the gathered, Renson Alva, secretary of ICYM Udupi diocese proposed the vote of thanks.
