Bengaluru: Parties tell EC to stop Karnataka government's new schemes

Bengaluru, Feb 2 (IANS): Political parties in poll-bound Karnataka on Thursday urged the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Om Prakash Rawat to restrain the ruling Congress government from announcing new schemes in a bid to woo voters.

"Some political parties have demanded the EC to restrain state government from making any announcement and sanction of new schemes ahead of state assembly elections," the Election Commission said in a statement after reviewing the readiness of the state machinery for the 15th assembly poll.

The polls in the southern state are due in late April-early May.

The parties had also urged the poll panel to ask the ruling Congress party to remove its hoardings in public offices, the statement said.

"Political parties demanded that the transfer policy of those officials, who are connected to the electoral process, be implemented strictly," it said.

Last week, the the state government was asked to withhold the transfers of seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) rank officers in the state as the poll panel was not consulted.

Rawat, as part of his two-day visit to the state, held meetings with the representatives of political parties, income tax officials, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), superintendents of police (SPs) and police commissioners among other officials.

"Political parties were assured that the EC would put into place an effective mechanism to ensure free, fair, transparent and inclusive elections," the statement asserted.

The state administration and the police have also been instructed to maintain the law and order across the state ahead of the polls, it said.

"Police observers will be deployed after the announcement of the election dates."

The poll panel, however, has not indicated in its statement about when the election dates are likely to be announced.

As per the draft electoral rolls as of November 30 last year, there are a total of 4.9 crore voters in the state, which has 224 assembly constituencies.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Om Prakash Rawat already proved he will toe the line of PM Modi's government like Joti by endorsing the 20 AAP MLA's while ignoring the 'office of profit' of BJP and Congress MLA's alike.
It should be noted that former CEC joti who is close to PM Modi has not announced the date of Gujarat elections while both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat results are going to be announced on same time until PM Modi schemes declared just before the dates announced.
The Election commision in Gujarat openly admitted that VVPAT and EVM numbers not matching in many places.
In the past 'ballot boxes' are counted in front of all party representatives. If VVPAT are counted in closed doors how does democracy is going to remain transparent?
The 'microchip' installed in each EVM is manufactured in USA. It was imported to India from company owned by Indians who are closed to PM Modi Gujarat government and have links to Rs 20000 scam Krishna Godavari gas exploration.
When Aadhar, credit/ Debit card are vulnerable to hackers, the 'Made in America' microchip is going to be full proof?
There is no 'model code of conduct' in the state. Why this opposition parties like BJP and JD(S) are against the schemes against the poor?

EC should give strict instruction to any govt ruling for that matter to stay away from any new schemes and declare any reservations etc to attract voters.... This should be done immediately after the declaration of Election dates and every one should obey this and be good to all...
Introduction of scheme itself is a typical BRIBE given to voters directly....

    Readewriter007,
Some of the Bhagys feeds the hungry & quenches their thirst as U may be knowing that about 25% of Indian people go to sleep on the floor, every day without proper meal & a class of clean water to drink & no roof over their head. Some times some of U question, as to what previous governments did for the last 70 years to alleviate poverty? U must have read that many of our MP/MLAs r Crorepathis, some even having wealth exceeding RS. One hundred crores. Why can't they give up their salaries & other benefits? According to U what is the best way to alleviate poverty in Karnataka? U think increasing salaries of Netas periodically will lower the gap of Poor & Rich in India?
