Udupi, Jan 31: 'Yuva Drishti - 2018' - Mangaluru zonal level leadership development workshop organized by Indian Youth Congress at Sheshashayana Hall of Kediyoor Hotel here went under way on Wednesday January 31.
Karnataka state Youth Congress president, Basanagouda Badarli, inaugurated the workshop. In his address, he said that this workshop is aimed at giving training to the young people to take over leadership of the party in future.
Badarli accused Mangaluru unit of BJP of aiming at creating communal disturbances in the state. He asked Congress workers to effectively spread the message about the insidious designs of BJP.
"Mysuru MP, Pratap Simha, travelled from Bengaluru to Mangaluru under 'Mangaluru Chalo' programme. What purpose did he serve by doing so and what was he aiming for? Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had said in his election manifesto that every year, about two crore jobs would be created. If BJP had planned Delhi Chalo programme to register our anger against this miserable failure of the central government, Congress too would have extended support to them. Pratap finds opportunities to indulge in politics everywhere. He did politics in the name of Hanuman too," he criticized.
He reminded those present that both former chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, and national president of BJP, Amit Shah, are former jail birds. He felt that these leaders should be ashamed of coming in front of the people and making tall claims. "Shah had queried with Pratap Simha about how many fires had been lit by him. BJP leaders do not know anything other than delivering provocative talks. They are misleading young people of the country," he commented.
Talking about local MP, Shobha Karandlaje, Badarli said that Shobha, a state level leader of her party, is known to tour everywhere. He accused her of failing to get any development works done in her constituency and charged her with indulging in politics the whole time.
"BJP MP and union minister, Ananth Kumar Hegde, has proved that tongues do not have any bones. He allows his tongue to go overboard without any control. He wants to change our Constitution. Young leaders should teach him a fitting lesson. Everyone should sincerely contribute towards bringing Congress back to power in the state in this year's election. I request each one of you to put in hard work to make this happen," he urged.
Janardhan Thonse, district Congress president said, “Congress has a long history. Sanjay Gandhi had given strength to Congress and built a strong party. Congress got new spirit and zeal to party after Rahul Gandhi became party president.
“BJP is creating friction between castes and different religions. Congress leaders and youth must act accordingly and help restore peace. Youth should be united. Party workers should not remain as party worker, but rise in stature. The committee should encourage them and give responsibility and power in their hands. Through that a strong nation needs to be built. Party president Rahul Gandhi is encouraging the youth.
“Congress wants to see Rahul Gandhi as prime minister of India in years to come. There is need to find a new way for the party. Young Congress members should learn culture and theories of the Congress party. Moreover youth should have patience in achieving goal. Let all of us work with loyalty and sincerity for the party,” he said.
