Udupi, Jan 27: A fraudster came to a house in which only two Muslim ladies were there, in the guise of a fakir, deceived the inmates of the house and robbed eight sovereigns of gold.
This incident took place in the house of Ayesha, a resident of Bailujidde under Udyavar village limits on Thursday, January 26.
The fakir came to the house in the afternoon when only Ayesha and her mother-in-law were at home and tried to attract them through his talk on religion. He entered the house after making sure that there were only two ladies in the house and no men were around.
After drawing the two ladies into a conversation he is alleged to have told the ladies that the gold that they have kept inside the house had disappeared. He also questioned them whether they were aware of this fact. To this query of fakir, Ayesha responded by saying that the gold is in the same place where it is kept inside the house. The fakir asked Ayesha to show the same to him and she obediently brought the gold from inside the house and showed the same to fakir.
Gold gets disappeared in the smoke
Fakir told the ladies that they are in the danger of losing this gold and he will perform some ritual by which they will not lose the same. Subsequently he took the gold and placed the same inside the earthen pot which he had. Then he made fire with smoke and gave the pot to the inmates of the house and left the place.
Little later, the ladies came to know that they were taken for a ride by the fakir when they opened the pot which was empty. They immediately informed the same to Kaup police.
Police have the images of the fraudster through the CCTV footage of a nearby house. They are searching for him.
