Mangaluru, Jan 17: An engineering graduate from Sullia, inspired by the urge to spread awareness among the masses about the need for clean politics, has undertaken the tour of the state on a bicycle. His motto has been 'vote for clean politics'.
Akhil K Gowda from Sulia taluk in Dakshina Kannada district had begun his campaign from Mysuru. He wants to visit various places within the state to spread his message, duly printing his motto on his T-shirt. On the back of his T-shirt, he has printed an appeal in Kannada to people to vote for candidates with clean image to free Karnataka from corruption. Akhil plans to undertake the tour of about 3,000 km by his bicycle.
Akhil Gowda holds a degree in electrical and electronics engineering. He studied at Mysuru. He set up a n NGO named 'Yuva',with the dream of achieving rural development. He earnestly desires for the state and national level politics to be cleansed of its ills.
Gowda began his tour on January 12 from Mysuru. He reached the city on January 17. During his interaction with a Kannada daily, he expressed his frustration at the current state of political situation. He says that political polarization based on religion and caste should be rejected by the people of the state. He says that the state lost Gauri Lankesh and police officer, Ganapati, because of the failure of the system. "That is why I have made use of their photos in my T-shirt," he confessed.
Akhil believes that there have been frictions, fights and disturbances in the society because of differences of opinion over right and left wing ideals. "Politics based on religion and caste is being followed. This is not good for democratic set up. We need leaders who can fight against burning problems," he feels.
He has requested people to vote for candidates who can solve problems in the fields of education, health, poverty, rural development etc. Those who concur with his ideology can give missed call to 7877778850.
