Mangaluru, Jan 4: While the rest of the world was celebrating the dawn of a new year, the family of 11-year-old Vignesh Mallya has been praying for his recovery from a deadly disease.
Young Vignesh is battling a life-threatening disease and is in need of a bone marrow transplant to survive.
Son of Vinayak and Vandana Mallya, residents of Puttur, Vignesh studies in class 6 at Victoria English Medium School, Puttur. Vignesh’s mother Vandana is a housewife, while father Vinayak works as a salesman and sells stationery and food products. Vignesh has an elder sister Varalakshmi who is pursuing her SSLC.
Vignesh was diagnosed with hypoplastic anaemia on December 5. In his present condition, he is suffering from a deficiency of all three blood cell types. Doctors have recommended bone marrow transplant which will cost Rs 15 lac. The family has already spent Rs 60,000 on Vignesh's treatment so far. Vignesh is being treated under Dr Harsha Prasad L (haematology and oncology) and Dr Nuthan Kamath (paediatrician).
Vignesh is currently admitted to KMC Hospital, Attavar.
The parents have earnestly appealed for financial support to help their son undergo the life saving operation.
The family is desperately in need of financial help and prayers. Philanthropists, organizations and individuals are requested to help the family bear the cost of the surgery as well as other medical expenses. A successful surgery can give Vignesh a new lease of life.
