Mangaluru, Dec 15: The department of Physics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) with Association of Physics Teachers of Mangalore University (APTU), organised a National conference on the topic Nano, Cryo, and Space Physics (NCSP-2017).
Prof Shivaprasad, senior scientist, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Science Research (JNCASR) was the chief guest. In his key note address he narrated the importance of Nonmaterial in our day today life application and future possibilities. Dr Dionysius Vas, Rector, St Aloysius College Institution, stressed the importance of Basic Sciences and the need of the basic science to the society. Lawrence Pinto, head of the department welcomed the guest and students. Dr Ishwara Bhat, convener of the conference in his initial remarks spoke on the importance of such seminars to enlighten the student’s inquisitiveness and the role of St Aloysius College and the department of Biotechnology, government of India in such activities. Dr Praveen Martis, principal presided over the function. Nilakanthan V K, organising secretary proposed vote of thanks. Large number students and faculty from various institution participated in the seminar.
Later, technical sessions on mega use of Nanotechnolgy by Dr Shivarasad were held. Dr Durgesh Nadig, scientist, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru delivered lecture on recent trends in Cryo Engineering, Dr Guruprasad, Public Relations Officer (ISRO) spoke on India’s magnificent journey to Mars. Students actively participated with interaction session with Dr Guruprasad.
