Bantwal, Dec 8: The annual NSS camp of Carmel College, Modankap was held at DKJP Higher Primary School, Pilimogaru, Dandegoli Bantwal.
Around 50 NSS Volunteers actively participated in it. Various educational and cultural programmes were organized for the campers and general public. Free Health check up camp was organized for the public in association with Father Muller’s Homeopathic Medical College. The most rewarding and exciting work was digging nearly 100 pits to plant areca nut saplings for the school.
The lady student volunteers had a unique experience of paddy harvesting in the village. The NSS camp provided ample opportunities to the students to develop leadership and managerial skills and talents with simple life style, hard work, and discipline and with a joyful spirit.
The camp was inaugurated by Chandravathi Jayaram, member, taluk panchayat and presided over by Prof Sr M Supriya, principal, Carmel College.
The valedictory address was given by Sulochana G K Bhat, ex-president Balabhavan Society, Karnataka.
Camp Officers Madhura K and Joel M Mascarenhas assisted by Sr Clera Rodrigues, student welfare officer, Carmel College, organized the camp.
Minister Ramanth Rai addressed the gathering during cultural evening. Ganesh Rao, headmaster, DKJP Higher Primary School, Jacintha D’Cunha, vice-president, PTA , Carmel College, Sr Naveena, joint secretary, Carmel College, Fr Sylvester D’Costa, parish priest, Infant Jesus Church Vamadapadav, Prakash Fernandes, president, School Development Committee, DKJP School, Ashwath Rai, industrialist, Pilimogaru, Ravindra Acharya, secretary, Old students Association, DKJP School, Johnson, Roydon and Anil Hedge, agricultural department, Bantwal were some of the dignitaries present.
