Mangaluru, Nov 18: It was an unforgettable day of feast and fun as parents, students and staff of Mount Carmel Central School organized 'Festember', a unique fancy fete as part of the School's decennial celebrations at its campus in Maryhill here on Saturday November 18.

Mount Carmel Central School has been proudly and nobly achieving its goal 'higher and nobler' through all its programmes, be it scholastic, co-scholastic or cultural for the past nine years. The year 2017, being the decennial year of the school, the parents, staff and students are hosting the fancy fete 'Carmel Festember'. The event is being held with a noble cause for supporting a budding sports star and to be in empathy with needy students/staff/parents in case of terminal illness.

James D'Souza, marine engineer, Singapore and Dr Gladys D'Souza, prosthodontist were the chief guests. Sr Maria Jyothi, joint secretary, Sr Carissima, administrator were presented on the dais.

In her welcome speech, principal, Sr Melissa said, "We are celebrating two days of this month as fancy fete. With this programme, we plan to help our budding sportspersons who rise to the national level and face financial crisis. We will also reach out to the needy students, staff and parents in cases of any terminal illness. Dance, music, and stalls have been put up by students and teachers in the fancy fete."

As part of inaugural ceremony, guests and dignitaries lit ten diyas and released ten balloons symbolizing the completion of ten years.

In his inaugural speech, James D'Souza said, "This is a meaningful celebration of ten years, keeping good cause in mind. I wish festive days to all students, staff and parents. I hope this event will be memorable for everyone."

A 'Multiplication Tables' CD for children presented by Daijiworld Audio Visual Studio was released by the guests on the occasion.

The CD features multiplication tables from 2 to 10, recited in musical form by the students of class 3 and 4. The tiny tots of well-known schools from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi including Mount Carmel students recited the tables, blended with an interesting conversation and story.

Later various dance and musical programmes were staged by students.

A number of delicious dishes prepared by the parents' kitchen - all fresh and hot – chicken, vegetarian, fish, Mangalurean and Coorgie pork, chats, manni and pathrode together with cooling treats are on offer during the weekend event

The fancy fete includes plenty of games for children like fishing pond, jumping castle, lucky games, tin bowling, minute to minute and others.
.
The event will be open on Sunday November 19 from 11.30 am to 8.30 pm.
