Mangaluru, Nov 17: The annual Day on November 16 at St Theresa's School saw life and energy propelled by the students this year.
The head girl Rachel and the head boy Roy Vince along with the school band escorted the dignitaries to the dais.
The dignitaries of the day were Fr Antony Sherra, parish priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendur, Sr Mariette BS, secretary of Bethany Educational Society and the correspondent of the school, Bendur, Sr Shanti Priya and Sr Lilitta, member of the Council of Management, Sr Leena Pereira, superior of Bethany Convent, Sr Cleopha and Nynette Tellis, PTA vice president.
The programme commenced with an invocation and welcome dance by the students of Class 3. The melodious voices of Class 4, 5 and 6 presented the orchestra in a harmonious blend giving wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. The students of class 6 performed a light dance.
The chief guest and guest of honor bestowed the prizes to the deserving students for topping in each subject in the academic year 2016-2017 and motivated them to keep working hard. Addressing the gathering the chief guest said, "Education is the name of our attitude, action and language in real life and we need to fear God to attain knowledge and build a humane society.
Sr Mariette said, "Education is for life to make a difference in society with head, heart and hands."
The most enthralling highlights of the programme were the dance 'Journey around the world', the English skit 'Transformation' and the Kannada skit 'Belakinedege '. The Theme Dance 'The World in our Hands' by the students of class 6 unleashed the breathtaking performance showcasing the change in the need of the hour. The elegant and magnificent performances mesmerized the audiences and no doubt were a visual treat for all.
Sr Premitha, the principal welcomed the gathering, Sr Shanti Claire, the vice principal and Sela Saldanha organized the stage programme and Jasmine Moreira on behalf of the management proposed the vote of thanks.
The entire programme was compered by Laboni and Rushubh of class 6, Kevin and Anya of Class 5. The programme came to a close with the singing of the school anthem.
