Team from Mangaluru wins laurels at State Masters Aquatic Ch'ship

Mangaluru, Oct 18: Swimming champions Pundalik Kharvi, Prashant Mendon and Anand Ameen, from Bengre, here, arrived back after a glorious victory at the 19th State Masters Aquatic Championship held on October 14 and 15, held at Vijayanagar Aquatic Centre, RPC Layout Bengaluru.

They represented Mangaluru in the championship.

Among their individual victories, Pundalik secured the first place in 100 mtr freestyle in Group G and 50 mtr backstroke, and second in 50 mtr breaststroke. Prashant placed first in 100 mtr freestyle in group E, second in 200 mtr freestyle, and third in 50 mtr freestyle. Anand secured the first place in 50 mtr and 100 mtr breaststroke, and second in 50 mtr freestyle.

All three participated together in the relays and won the first place in 4x50 medley relay, and second place in 4x50 freestyle relay.

The event was organised by the Karnataka Swimming association, affiliated to Swimming Federation of India, Karnataka Olympic Association and Sports Authority, and was well attended by swimmers from Bengaluru, Belgaum, Mysuru, Kundapura and other parts of the state.

Pundalik Kharvi trains at the Mangalore City Corporation swimming pool, Anand Ameen works with Syndicate Bank and Prashant Mendon coaches at St Aloysius College Swimming Pool. The team will participate in the 14th National Masters Championship - 2017 in Mysuru from November 1 to 3.
