Bengaluru, Oct 18: A degree student who clicked a selfie from his cellphone fell 30 feet down on a boulder and lost his life. The incident happened on Tuesday October 17.
The victim was H S Naveen Kumar (21), a final year B Com degree student of government first grade college at Doddaballapur. Naveen had scaled the famous Channarayaswamy hill along with friends and took a selfie when he slipped on account of alglae grown on the rock, it is said.
He was part of nearly 40 students of the college who were members of National Service Scheme (NSS). They had taken part in the NSS camp at the college. After a preliminary meeting of the camp, they had all gone for sight seeing to Channarayaswamy Hill. Naveen Kumar was trying to click a selfie by standing on a rock near the falls on the hill when he slipped. As his body hit the rock at high speed, his backbone and ribs were damaged and he was unable to breathe. He died before he reached the hospital.
The accident happened in Chikkaballapur taluk side of the hill as half of the hill belongs to that taluk and so police personnel from Nandi station registered the case. They questioned the three students of the college. Policemen from Doddaballapur rural station too visited the spot and undertook investigation.
