Beltangady, Oct 17: A husband-wife duo hanged litself from a tree at Jodusthana in Dharmasthala village in the taluk on the evening of Sunday October 16.

The identities of the persons who killed themselves have been given as Babu (62) and Kamala (58), both from Jodusthana, Dharmasthala.

The couple used to reside with their daughter at Ashoknagar here. They had left home in the morning. Worried about the fact that they did not come back even at dusk, a search was launched after which they were seen hanging from a tree near their home at Jodusthana. They had used a sari to hang themselves.

After the untimely death of their only son, the couple had deserted their home and begun to live with their daughter. Both were grieving the loss of their young son, and it is felt that out of depression on this account, they would have decided to end their lives.

On the basis of complaint made by a local, Shashikala, a case was registered in the police station here.
