Puttur, Oct 11: " The state government is engaged in the wicked conspiracy to wedge a divide in Hindu community. Ministers from this district, who have been intoxicated with power, have lost control over themselves and are behaving like the historically famous eccentric Sultan of Delhi, Muhammed Bin Tughluq," remarked MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at a programme organized on Tuesday October 10 at Perigeri Bhajana Mandir on the occasion of 'Dharmaraksha Padayatra' organized by Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit from the town to Deyi Baidethi herbal garden at Mudipiadka seeking action against communal forces which insulted Deyi Baidethi, mother of Tulunadu's reverred valiant heroes, Koti and Chennaya, and seeking protection for Hindu centres of faith in the district.
MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary, addressing the participants, accused the state government of trying to nail Hindu belief systems by enacting anti superstition law, insulting Hindu gods and other divine beings in which HIndus believe in, insulting Deyi Baidethi etc. He accused the state government of trying to override Hinduism.
Dakshina Kannada district BJP president, Sanjeev Matandoor, commented that the state is being ruled by 'Siddaravana' of Congress while the district is ruled by 'Natha Ravana'. Former MLA, K Prabhakar Bangera, and former MLC, K Monappa Bhandary, also spoke on the occasion.
Zilla panchayat president, Meenakshi Shantigodu, vice president, Kasturi Panja, Puttur taluk panchayat president, Bhavani Chidanand, former MLA, Mallika prasad, district BJP general secretaries, Brijesh Chowta, Umanath Kotian and Sudarshan Moodbidri, president of different assembly constituency units of BJP, several other leaders and people's representatives were present.
Puttur area BJP president, Chanila Timmmappa Shetty, welcomed while the town unit president, K Jeevandhar Jain, proposed vote of thanks. Municipal councillor, Rajesh Bannur, and Devadas Bantwal hosted the programme. Later, a crowd led by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, offered prayers seeking punishment to those who committed the sacrilegious act against Deyi Baidethi and invoking good sense to dawn on the state government, in front of the herbal garden at Mudipinadka.
