Puttur, Oct 6: In connection with the rape of a school girl aged 15, accused, Sajeevan (35), was arrested by Uppinangady police and produced in court. Sajeevan has been accused of raping a student from Kambalantadahil in Ichalampady village and then threatening her parents when they objected.
The distressed girl is a student of a high school at Nelyady. Sajeevan used to pose like a well-wisher and approach the girl often. He also offered chocolates to the girl now and then, it is said. Misusing the trust which the girl developed about him over a period of time, he took her to a rubber plantation where she was raped. Reportedly, he warned the girl against revealing this information to anyone.
It is said that he also bought a cellphone for the student and used to exchange messages with her. When the father of the girl came to know about the affair and objected, he showed aggressive behaviour and threatened to kill both the parents of the girl, the girl said in a complaint filed with the police. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
A police team led by Uppinangady sub-inspector of police, Nandakumar, arrested Sajeeva, father of two children, and produced him in the court.
