Kundapur, Oct 1: Navaratri festivities were performed at Goddess Mookambika temple at Kollur in the taluk, ending with the car festival on Friday September 29 and several other procedures on Saturday.
Various religious procedures including Maha Chandika Yaga were performed on Friday. The chariot of the temple was pulled around the inner precincts of the temple at night. Devotees thronged the temple to catch coins and flowers being tossed from inside the chariot on this occasion as they believe this to be auspicious. Because of this, there was hustle and bustle.
On Saturday, Vidyarambha in which small children are initiated into education, and the programme of first feed of solid food to babies went on till afternoon. In the evening, a grand victory procession of the goddess was taken out.
During the festival, various programmes were staged at the temple dais. President of temple managing committee, Harish Kumar Shetty, priest, K Manjunath Adiga, Vandaballi Jayaram Shetty, temple executive officer, Janardhan J C, assistant executive officer, Krishnamurty and others were present.
