Puttur, Sep 29: Secretary of Hindu Jagaran Vedike (HJV), Jagadish Karanth from here has been arrested in Bengaluru on Friday, September 30 for making a communally provocative speech against sub-inspector Khader from Puttur Town Police Station.
The town police here had registered a Suo motu case against Karanth on September 21 after watching the video footage of the speech.
Karanth had been booked under section 153 of Indian Penal Code. He has been accused of threatening a government servant, inciting enmity between religions, deriding of religion, slanderous remarks against religion etc.

Karanth was arrested in Bengaluru airport on Friday afternoon.
The speech was made on September 15.
Police said Karanth will be brought to Puttur soon and will be produced before the magistrate. It is said that Karanth has been booked under non-bailable offence.
