Mangaluru, Sep 25: "After completing their graduation, students are stepping into the real world. It is very important for them to avoid committing any mistakes there as even minor mistakes cannot be corrected. Likewise, no one should feel proud of their educational qualifications and become arrogant at the knowledge they possess. They should develop the habit of respecting everyone," advised director of National Institute of Technology Suratkal, Dr K Uma Maheshwar Rao.
He spoke after inaugurating the fifth annual convocation programme of Bearys Institute of Technology at Innoli here on Saturday September 23.
Dr Sadiq Said Muhammed, director of Centre for Economics and Management and Centre for Comunication and IT Research of King Fahd Petroleum and Minerals University, Saudi Arabia, who delivered the keynote address, noted that firms when hiring people lay more emphasis on their skills than their knowledge. Therefore he advised people to imbibe the attitude of working with a sense of unity and coordination.
President of Bearys Academy of Learning, Sayyid Muhammed Beary, addressing the congregation, said that convocation not only is an occasion for conferring of degrees but also it is held in an environment in which the institutions bid farewell to students. He said that in the realm of engineering, degree alone cannot win recognition as skill takes on a prominent role. He urged the students to always remain honest and stand by the truth. Vice president of Schneider Electric, Srinivas Surapani, delivered a lecture on the subject of entrepreneurship-education relationship.
Degrees were conferred at the ceremony to the engineering graduates from civil, mechanicals, computer science, information technology and electronics and communications departments.
Muhammed Pazil, best performed in civil engineering department, Muhammed Sheraz of computer science department, Ayesha Farhana of electronics and commnications department, Rizai Banu of information technology department and Inchara of mechanical engineering department received prizes in recognition of their performances.
Trustee of Bearys group, Mazhar S Beary handed over mementos to the graduates.
Senior advisor, Dr S K Raykar and Dr Aziz Mustafa were present.
Principal, Dr Atony A J, welcomed everyone. Students, Ruksana and Zulkar Nain, presented the programme. Prof Mustafa Bastikody proposed the vote of thanks.
