Mangalore, May 27: Daijiworld has immense pleasure in announcing to its esteemed readers that it has broken the record of website visitors on May 25, 2008 on the Karnataka election day.
As announced earlier, daijiworld.com had set in place about 25 reporters and photographers in and around Mangalore and Udupi counting centers to beam the minute-by-minute result tally on the website. Live information
transmission facility was installed from both the counting centers in Mangalore and Udupi, and live updating system was placed at Daijiworld media centre near its office in Kankanady.
Though the flow of browsers was lower during the initial hours, the flow increased tremendously at around 10.30 am IST when crucial results were declared. Due to the outpouring of visitors from around the world, daijiworld experienced slow uploading of pages. Several visitors also faced inconvenience due to heavy internet traffic. Interestingly, when daijiworld server was slow, the daijiworld office in Mangalore started receiving calls from India and abroad asking the poll status.
While many had similar live updates giving statewide updates, Daijiworld.com was the only web portal to give live updates from coastal districts with a 15 second interval and a pinpoint accurate vote count which has never happened ever in any election coverage so far in Karnataka.
Daijiworld was expecting the traffic mainly from abroad. But surprisingly a huge number of the visitors were registered from India.
At the end of the day , an accurate 2,36,786 individual visitors visited the site breaking the previous high of 180,000 visitors that was recorded during the first flight landing at Mangalore airport from Dubai.
The country - wise ratio is as follows:
India - 74,786
UAE - 43,183
Saudi Arabia - 23,234

Bahrain - 8765
Canada: 8650
Oman - 5678
UK - 4876
Australia - 2800
The rest of the visitors were from over 140 other countries around the world.
About 30% of the total traffic was driven from Google and Yahoo search engines. Over 30,000 visitors were driven from Google News service.
Daijiworld.com in its eight years of operation, is a leading web portal for the people of coastal Karnataka living home and abroad.
