Panaji, May 3: Fiona Mackeown, mother of British teenager Scarlett, has said that she would not bury Scarlett's body without the missing organs which are with the Goan authorities.

'I will wait till I get them (the organs). Without the organs I am not going to bury the body,' Fiona stated.

Scarlett's body is currently with the UK authorities who are conducting the inquest autopsy on it. According to Fiona, the autopsy will take few more days as it is a detailed one.

'I will not bury the incomplete body. I want the organs back,' Fiona said.

The 43 year old mother is down in Goa to follow up the case regarding the missing organs which were removed during two autopsies conducted in Goa medical college and hospital here.

Scarlette had died on Goa's popular Anjuna beach on February 18 and the police investigations had revealed that she was drugged, raped and left to die in the shallow waters.

Two autopsies were conducted on her body in India while the inquest autopsy being  performed on her body by the coroner's office in England had found that several body parts were missing.

According to Fiona, the full stomach, both the kidneys, the uterus, the spleen and the pancreas were extracted from the body and not handed over to the UK authorities. 'These complete organs of my daughters dead body, have been removed without my consent,' Fiona said raising the human rights violation issue.

Fiona who came down aiming to take back the body organs claimed that Goan authorities were busy passing the bucks. 'I am shunted from office to office. I have not been able to get any satisfactory reply,' she said.

The mother has met chief secretary J P Singh, Goa medical college and hospital dean Dr V N Jindal and the forensic department officials but all have failed to give her back the organs.

While chief secretary during her meeting on Wednesday April 30 directed her to the dean, who on the other hand, asked the forensic department to do the needful.

However, the forensic department chief Dr E J Rodrigues, refused to give the organs asking to get police clearance.

Fiona also met inspector general of police Kishan Kumar who also expressed his inability to hand over the organs. 'We are waiting for the case to be taken over by CBI so we can't do anything now,' Kumar stated.

Skeptical about the procedure adopted during Indian autopsies, Fiona has questioned how the entire organs can be removed for the test.

'I do understand that for medico forensic requirements, a certain amount of tissues from various organs is an essential requisite by the forensic scientists to satisfactorily conclude on his testing. However, to my mind the removal of the entire organs from the body of my daughter is an action far in excess of the needs of the forensic scientist,' she said..

The mother has also questioned under what code or provision of Indian laws, the liberty has been taken to violate the dead body of the daughter.

'Please inform me under what provision of Indian law has this action of removing the entire organs of my daughter's body been taken,' she questioned Goa chief secretary in a letter written to him earlier this week.

Fiona will be returning to UK on Sunday but has said that she will be back after a few weeks to follow up the case.

I would like to see the justification done by Indian Govt. to Fiona. Now foreigners travelling to Goa must think that Goa is dangerous for tourism. There is no law and order in Goa. Travelling to Goa is like walking in battlefield.
