Mangaluru: 70-yr-old shopkeeper arrested for sexual harassment of minor girl

Mangaluru, Nov 22: Police have registered a case of alleged sexual harassment involving a 3-year-old girl in Bale Puni village, Ullal taluk, on November 21.

According to the complaint filed by the child’s mother, the incident occurred near an areca nut shop where the girl was playing. The shopkeeper, identified as Abdulla (70), son of Ahmed Kunhi and a resident of Mudangarkatte, is accused of inappropriate physical contact with the child. The mother noticed discomfort in her child and sought medical attention before filing the complaint.

The Konaje police have registered a case under sections 9, 10, and 12 of the POCSO Act and section 65 of the Karnataka Police Act. Abdulla was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody.

Further investigation is ongoing.
