Puttur: St Philomena Autonomous College hosts NSS fest 'Philo-Sevamrutha 2024'

Puttur, Nov 22: The annual NSS fest, ‘Philo-Sevamrutha 2024,’ at St Philomena Autonomous College kicked off with a grand inauguration followed by a vibrant valedictory ceremony, celebrating the spirit of service and commitment to societal betterment.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college, who emphasised the transformative power of service. “Responsible service shapes live and brightens the world,” he remarked, highlighting the role of the NSS in fostering responsibility and a sense of purpose among students.

Dr Monteiro urged students to continue their dedication to serving society and to build a better world through collective efforts.

NSS officer Dr Chandrashekar K presented the introductory remarks, while NSS secretary Niranjan Kumar extended a warm welcome to the guests and participants. NSS Unit leader Akash Rai delivered the vote of thanks, and Geetha K V compered the event.

NSS officer Pushpa N was also present on the dais, along with public relations officer Bharathi S Rai and Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, dean of the department of Business Administration.

The fest featured a series of service-oriented competitions, providing a platform for students to engage in community-oriented activities while also showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.

The valedictory ceremony followed later in the day, with Dr Sheshappa K, NSS programme coordinator of Mangalore University, as the chief guest.

Dr Sheshappa praised the event for its focus on instilling values through service. “In today’s world, fostering a value-based environment is paramount. Our activities should reflect these values,” he emphasised, urging students to continue practicing value-driven service in their personal and professional lives.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro once again presided over the ceremony and highlighted the importance of building a value-driven society through collective action. “Through service, we must brighten society with the light of awareness,” he stated, encouraging participants to unite in their efforts for meaningful societal contributions.

The fest included a variety of cultural competitions, and prizes were distributed to the winning students, celebrating their enthusiasm and creativity. Vice-Principal Vijay Kumar Moleyar, NSS officers Dr Chandrashekar K and Pushpa N also graced the dais during the valedictory event.

Archana extended a warm welcome to the gathering, Vishnujith proposed the vote of thanks, and NSS Unit leader Kavya compered the programme, bringing the event to a close on a high note.

Both the inaugural and valedictory ceremonies of ‘Philo-Sevamrutha 2024’ served as a testament to the commitment of the college and its students to serve society while fostering a sense of responsibility, community, and service-oriented values.
