Mangaluru, Nov 23: In a significant breakthrough, the Mangaluru crime control bureau (CCB) apprehended Dawood (43), a notorious rowdy-sheeter with a history of heinous crimes, near Talapady-Devipura Road on Friday November 22. Dawood, a resident of Dharmanagar in Ullal, was allegedly plotting an attack on rival gang members when the operation unfolded.

Acting on credible information, a team led by PSI Narendra moved swiftly to arrest Dawood. However, during the operation, Dawood resisted fiercely and attacked the officers with a machete, injuring PSI Narendra and other personnel. Despite the assault, the officers managed to subdue and arrest him, later handing him over to Ullal police station for further legal proceedings.

A case has been registered against Dawood at Ullal police station for offenses under multiple sections of the BNS Act, 2023, and IPC.

Dawood is a habitual offender involved in numerous crimes, including murders, assaults, and extortion, operating primarily within Ullal, Mangaluru South, and Bajpe jurisdictions.

Further investigation is in progress.
