Udupi, May 14: A self-proclaimed black magician, who was claiming to drive away evil spirits and solve personal problems of women, was handed over to police by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike on Saturday, May 13.
Accused Mohammed Sharif (32), was mostly targeting pretty women. It is learnt that he would assure to solve all their problems and force them into sexual act through obscene mobile texts.
Mohammed Sharif is married and has a child. He was a resident of Moodbidri and staying in a rented house at seventh cross road at Indrali here. He was charging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 thousand for his services and also harassing women to have sex with him.
He was said to be harassing a Udupi based woman for the last five months. Her husband is abroad. The sorcerer was telling the woman that he will get married to her and pestering repeatedly, especially at nights to have sex with him, besides sending filthy messages.
The woman who could not bear the harassment informed Karnataka Rakshana Vedike with the help of her relatives. The Vedike staff got a time fixed to meet the sex maniac at Indrali. He has confessed to his harassment after the Vedike organizers caught hold of him and hit him. His confession is recorded in the mobile. He has said that he became mad after looking at the woman and promised that he will not repeat it.
The Rakshana Vedike staff handed him over to Udupi women’s police station. The aggrieved woman has lodged a complaint to the police. The women police considering the future of the woman have taken an undertaking from Sharif. The lenient approach of the police however is not likely to deter the accused.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike district president Ansar Ahmed has asked women not to go to him. “Most of such black magicians are cheats. Therefore, do not get cheated,” he said.
