Kuwait, Feb 19: Felcita D'Souza took charge as the president of Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait (AAK), an all-women association consisting of ex-students of St Agnes institution of Mangaluru, during its annual general body meeting held on Friday, February 17 at Samrat Restaurant, Salmiya.
The meeting commenced with a prayer led by liturgical coordinator Lydia Misquith. The eloquent compere, Maria Coelho, ensured the smooth flow of proceedings.
Outgoing president Diany Coutinho briefed the gathering with the highlights, activities and contributions of the alumnae towards various needs - the prime one being AAK scholarship to financially deprived and deserving students identified by the college to pursue education at the alma mater (over 125 students have benefited since AAK's inception in 2005); the other two being the newly instituted AAK Excellence Award for the highest scorer/topper in St Agnes College and AAK scholarship at Carmel College Modankap, Bantwal.
Outgoing vice-president Shanthi Fernandes gave a detailed annual report and treasurer Shalet Luis read out the statement of accounts.
Annet Castelino called out the list of new office-bearers for the term 2017-2019 with Felcita D'Souza taking over as president and Jackie Alphonso as vice-president. When called upon to introduce themselves, each from the core committee highlighted one value they had learnt at the alma mater. The elected president spoke of love and the vice-president spoke of punctuality; the others spoke of perseverance, adaptability, strength, charity and patience.

Brunch buffet was set up by Samrat Restaurant. The meeting concluded with the closing prayer and singing of the College anthem 'God is our Strength'.
The new team has invited all ex-Agnesians residing in Kuwait to come forward and register/renew their membership with the Alumnae Association.
