Mangaluru, Feb 7: In a strange incident, Panambur police allegedly abandoned persons, including a woman, who were injured in a family clash in the middle of the road, resulting in a flash protest by the injured as well as locals and activists of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). The incident took place at Kasba Bengre and Kulur here on Tuesday February 7.

It is said that two families had been engaged in a land dispute for a long time. Matters came to a head on Tuesday, in which one family attacked another with sharp weapons at Kasba Bengre.

Ahmed, his wife and two children were badly injured in the clash. The locals who witnessed the fight informed the police, who rushed to the spot.

As per initial information, the Panambur police reportedly took away the injured saying that they would admit them to hospital. However, the police allegedly instead left them in the middle of the road at Kulur junction and went away.

Shocked and hurt by the attitude of the Panambur police, the injured persons along with locals, and later DYFI activists, staged a flash protest at the spot. The injured were then taken to hospital.

Speaking to reporters, DYFI urged the police commissioner to probe the issue and take stringent action against the police personnel involved.

The incident resulted in a big traffic jam.

When contacted, Panambur police sources denied that they abandoned the injured, and clarified that the injured persons had requested the cops to drop them at Kulur junction and they did so.

this could not be a so simple as we know. because simply police wont left them out on the road. could be some reason which should be disclosed.

now every one condemning police including injured people. but what about the attacker? why no one is talking about them??? whether these injured people lodged any complaint? very strange case!!

The cops say the injured requested them to leave at Kulur Junction. Perhaps none of them were seriously injured and the police may have let them off with a warning, without filing FIR.

Whom to blame now for the fight? Both the parties are from same community, alas riots and political interference unlikely, so squarely blame the police?!

Law enforcement in Mangalore district need complete overhaul. The sting operation of 'Cobra post' has already exposed the nexus within the government machinery and fanatic organisations.

Only way to curb this is by equal representation of department from all section of society and religion.
Because of law enforcement city is left far behind than other cities of Karnataka. Once it stood top in education ranking is now slide to third place.

Mangalore has turned to be Nagpur of the south. Always in negative limelight. Despite highest education city can't choose one wise leader in last two decades.

Living injured person behind is against ethics of duty. Where is the higher up of the department?

Probably police don't know who will pay hospital bills? Since entire family is injured.. Nobody is there to take care? Very unfortunate 😞

In human treatment of police should be condemned. DC should do investigatin and responsible police personnel shuld be penalised. Police have deserted the injred on the road instead of providing them necessary treatment in the hospital. this is not acceptable. Any human who needs treatment should be attended first.
