Kuwait, Jan 1: Kuwait will slash international telephone call charges by 20 percent, the Gulf Arab state's communications minister said on Monday.
The cuts would help counter the spread of unlicensed call agents, Abdullah al-Muhailbi told the official news agency KUNA. The new fees would apply to all international calls, except to other Gulf Arab states.
The state is the sole provider of international telephony in Kuwait where overseas calls are more expensive than in most other neighbouring countries.
Kuwait is home to about two million expatriates in a total population of around three million.
