Bengaluru, Aug 13: There has been a flurry of activity in BJP and JDS camps since an announcement was made fixing September 16 as the date of election for the post of the mayor of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.
BJP in particular, is trying to make the best of the situation arising out of the uneasiness prevailing in the alliance between JDS and Congress after the Rajya Sabha election. These two parties together had deprived BJP the chance to wrest power in spite of having highest number of corporators.
BJP leaders are in talk with JDS leaders behind the scenes. It is learnt that BJP leader, R Ashok, had taken up the issue of alliance with JDS state president, H D Kumaraswamy when the two met at a programme recently. Kumaraswamy said he would consult Deve Gowda before the issue can be considered further.
At the same time, from the Congress too, attempts to continue the alliance with JDS have resumed. On Saturday August 13, minister, Ramalinga 'Reddy, visited Deve Gowda, at the latter's home and discussed the issue with him.
