Bengaluru, Aug 7: The Lokayukta special court here, on Saturday August 6, dismissed a private complaint petition seeking an order seeking investigation into a case in which chief justice (CJ) of the state high court, S K Mukherjee, was said to have been offered bribe in return for favourable order relating to certain case.
Social activist, Jayakumar Hiremath, and advocate, Dharmapal, said that they would now approach the state high court with similar petition, as the court has dismissed their petition without citing any reason.
Jayakumar Hiremath had, under right to information act, sought video footage of the CCTV cameras fitted in the house of CJ between July 1 to 5 to prove the visit of the accused person. However, deputy registrar of the high court has informed him that CCTV camera has not been fitted to the residence of the CJ.
Reports had said that the unknown person referred by the CJ had given his visiting card before leaving. Hiremath had sought copy of this visiting card. But the deputy registrar of the high court has reportedly said that this too is not available.
