Bengaluru, Jul 14: Advocates Association of Bengalore (AAB) passed a resolution on Wednesday July 13, to request the central government to immediately transfer Karnataka high court chief justice (CJ), S K Mukherjee, to another high court. This decision was taken in the backdrop of allegation made by the CJ that an individual who had visited him at his residence sometime back, had offered to pay bribe in exchange for giving favourable verdict in a specific case.
The special general body meeting of the association, held under the presidentship of AAB president, H C Shivaramu, on Wednesday in the premises of High Court Advocates Assocciaion passed this unanimous resolution. A decision to write to the chief justice of Supreme Court, prime minister and union law minister, asking them to transfer the chief justice of the high court, was also taken.
The meeting also decided to urge the concerned to undertake detailed investigation into the incident in its entirety. At the meeting, widespread resentment was also expressed at the CJ's action in not initiating any action against the person who had offered bribe to him.
