Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar conducts annual general meeting

Doha, Jun 23: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, a renowned community, had convened its annual general meeting on June 18 evening at Mumbai Hall, ICC Doha.




































The AGM which started at 7.30 pm was chaired by the KSQ president H K Madhu, along with senior vice president Venkat Rao, general secretary Sandesh Anand, chairman of advisory board Deepak Shetty, treasurer Subramanya Hebbagilu on the dais.

H K Madhu welcomed the gathering and shared his experience of his first year’s tenure. He thanked the executive committee, sponsors, volunteers and all members of the KSQ for their tremendous support.

General secretary Sandesh Anand, presented the Sangha's annual activities report of the last one year. Subramanya Hebbagilu, treasurer presented the audited financial report for 2015-2016 (May 2015 to April 2016) which was later approved by the members.

Meanwhile president H K Madhu officially announced the ‘two weeks membership campaign’ which will be conducted from June 21 to July 5 with an intention to reach Kannadigas in Qatar. He announced special discount on membership fee during the said campaign drive.

Later during a special announcement in the AGM, president, H K Madhu explained the need to fill the vacant executive committee positions for the rest of the term of the committee. He proposed the names of Subramanya Hebbagilu to the post of vice president while Hemavathi Lakappa’s name was for joint-secretary. He also told the members that the portfolios will be re-allocated among the committee members in an MC meeting very shortly. The members welcomed the announcement with a thunderous applause.

Subramanya Hebbagilu, a well-known community leader served as membership coordinator of KSQ during 2013-15. He has served as treasurer in the present committee for a period of one year. He is actively involved with social, charitable and special needs services associated with other Indian and Karnataka based communities and also back home in India.

Hemavathi Lakappa has an impeccable record of serving KSQ in different capacities for many years.

The AGM also witnessed the KSQ’s presentation of a cheque to ICBF, which was received by ICBF president Arvind Patil and joint secretary Mahesh Gowda. ICBF is an apex body of the Indian Embassy which works for the needy in Qatar.

Tulu Koota president Ravi Shetty, MCC’s president Prakash Norohna, KMCA president Niyaz Ahmed were among the dignitaries during the AGM.

Cultural joint secretary Sandeep Reddy compered the entire event and also proposed the vote of thanks.

The event came to an end with high tea arranged by the Sangha.
