Mangaluru, Mar 10: St Aloysius College for the third consecutive time bagged the overall trophy of two day national level media fest, ‘Beacons’ organized by Nitte Institute of Communication on Wednesday March 9 at its college campus at Paneer.
The two-day fest which included both symposium and various events, witnessed a participation of 16 colleges with 120 students taking part in 14 different events.
Popular documentary maker and social activist Natesh Ullal conducted a symposium of film making on the second day of Beacons. He highlighted the film as a language to communication, and its perception by the audience.
“Language should not be limited to spoken words but can be expressed in various forms. As a film student one can use the medium to communicate with audience on various subjects,” he added.
Crisis Management, Face painting, Media Quiz, Mock press, Mime and Short film competition were the few events held on day two.
The valedictory function was presided over by Vinayak, popular comedian and artiste of coastal belt and gave a call to students to make best use of such platforms which promotes their talents.
Head of the Department Prof Raviraj Kini, Faculty Event Co-odinator Mrs Dikshitha Prashanth, student coordinator Dilsha Ravindran and college president Farzana were present on the dais.
Neel Kote and Leora D’Cunha, students of NICO compered the ceremony.
