Mangaluru, Nov 27: Pritham Sagar, the producer of recently released Tulu movie 'Ice Cream' on Friday November 27 alleged that his film had become a 'victim of unhealthy competition' in the industry and that there was a 'conspiracy' behind the film's early and unexpected exit from theatres.
Addressing a press meet here, Pritham said, "'Ice Cream' Tulu movie is a new experiment in the Tulu movie industry. In the past one week we have got overwelming response from the people. We also got good reviews by people in social networking platforms like Facebook and many media have rated our movie 4/5. But now we have become the victim of a conspiracy. Our movie has been taken out from the theatres because 'Yeregla Panodchi' movie is being released.
"Just when our movie was picking up, it has been removed from the theatres. Theatre owners have also appreciated our movie, but they buckled under pressure from some unseen hands who are conspiring against us. Tulu film industry is very small and within a week's gap if movies are released how can producers survive?" he said.
"We were supposed to release our movie on September 18, but 'Chandi Kori' movie's release was fixed for the same date, so we did not want to clash with it. Hence, we delayed the release. Nevertheless, our movie will continue in Jyothi theatre. We have called this press meet so that tomorrow it should not be said in papers that a new proucer's movie is a flop. If this kind of unhealthy competition continues, no one will want to experiment in the Tulu movie industry.
Rupesh Shetty, lead actor of 'Ice Cream' and Deekshith were present.
