Mangaluru, May 14: Former minister J Krishna Palemar conducted a press meet and pointed at the failure of the state government here at Mangaluru on Wednesday, May 13.
Addressing the media he said "The ruling congress government came to power with the promise that they would strengthen panchbayath raj system and give more power to the people and thereby develop the rural areas. But they have not fulfilled these promises, but instead created more trouble to the people by introducing new law to the construction of houses. They have bought form 9 and 11 according to which a poor person has to go to 4 officials for their signature as there is no powers in panchayath not even for water connection and electricity connection. They have withdrawn all the powers from panchayath. This has created more trouble to the poor as he cannot construct a house because of these rules."
"Rs 40 lacs sanctioned for water in rural areas in Mangaluru north constituency, has not been utilized effectively and thus the people have not got a single drop of water from these borewells. Under the scheme 'Namma grama Namma raste' every village will get 20 kilometer road but the government has only sanctioned 15 percent grant. Thus none of the contractors is bidding for the tender." Palemar added.
Chief minister Siddaramaih on the first day he took charge anounced 30 kg rice at Rs 1 per kg. But now that has been reduced to it to 4 kg to each person of the family at free of cost with maximum of 16 kg for a family. In this way government is cheating the people in indirect way. In the coming days people have to teach a lesson to this government by voting to the right persons in the coming panchayath elections." Palemar concluded.
Janardhan Gowda, Zilla panchayath member was also present.
