Mumbai, Feb 22: Having hit theatres just two days ago, the heavily praised film Badlapur has an overall collection of 15crores in its kitty which is way ahead of Roy and Baby. Audiences seem to have further passed on the word and garnered more foot falls for the movie that many celebs awarded high marks to.
The Varun Dhawan starrer is a crime thriller began spectacularly with Rs 7.20 crores on Friday, its first day on screens across the nation. The second day brought in a tidy Rs 8.75 crores and the returning tide is expected to bring in more sales in the coming days. In UAE, alone the movie made Rs 2.03 crores.
Ranbir Kapoor's much awaited movie 'Roy' opened at Rs 10.40 crores but subsequently seemed to plummet as far as sales were concerned. Akshay Kumar's 'Baby' too was expected to garner a lot more than the Rs 9.30 crores that it made on its first day. Again 'Baby' to it seems didn't exactly manage to attract more people its way.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the movie tells the compelling story of a young man harbouring inconsolable grief and a formidable thirst for revenge against those who killed his family. The cast includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Yami Gautam, Divya Dutta, Vinay Pathak and Huma Qureshi.
