Bengaluru, Feb 17: A person from Honnenahalli near Rajanukunte, Yalahanka, killed his seven-year-old daughter and hanged himself on the night of Sunday February 15. It is gathered that he was frustrated at the fact that his wife, whom he had loved and married, had eloped with another person.
Prasannakumar (32), resident of Honnenahalli and working for a private firm in Malleswaram here in the capacity of graphic designer, resorted to this gruesome act on the night of Sunday February 16. He smothered his daughter, Keerthi, to death, before hanging himself.
Prasanna had married a Maharashtrian named Usha about ten years back. Usha works for a private company. It is learnt that Prasanna had repeatedly objected to his wife's closeness to her colleague from Kalaburagi, Mallikarjun. After quarrel with her husband on this issue it became a regular affair, Usha had run away with Mallikarjun three months ago, it is gathered.
After Prasanna filed a complaint about his missing wife in Yalahanka satellite township police station, the police had succeeded in tracing her in the company of Mallikarjun, and bringing her back. Usha refused to live with Prasannakumar, sought divorce from him, and began living separately. Prasanna was going through a period of mental agony over these developments.
On Sunday night, Prasanna's father had gone to Tirupati, and his mother was away at Doddaballapur on personal work. Making use of the opportunity when he was alone with his daughter at home, Prasanna killed his daughter and ended his own life. The matter came to light on Monday morning, after which a report was filed in Rajanukunte police station here.
