Motor bike rider dies after being knocked down by bus

Kundapur, Feb 11: In an accident which occurred opposite Kannukere bus shelter on national highway 66 in Tekkatte in the taluk on Monday February 9 afternoon, the rider of a motor bike got killed.

The unfortunate victim of this accident happens to be Ashok Kulal (29), a native of Kedoor Tenkubettu near Tekkatte. The private bus that was moving towards Udupi from Kundapur had swerved to the left side of the road to reach the bus shelter to pick passengers. As the driver suddenly took a steep right turn to reach the highway for resuming onward journey, the bus hit the motor bike that was moving on the highway at that time, it is gathered.

Ashok, who had suffered grave head injuries in the accident, was taken to Manipal Hospital by using a local ambulance service immediately. However, he failed to properly respond to treatments and breathed his last on Monday night.

Ashok was an employee of Suzlon Company near Padubidri. He was returning to his home after paying obeisance at Maranakatte Lord Brahmalingeshwara Temple in the taluk, when he became victim of the said accident.

Ashok is survived by parents, a brother, and a sister. Kota police staition personnel rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and took up investigation.
