Mangaluru: Murder of fishing worker - accused held

Mangaluru, Feb 11: The police, who had begun investigation into the recovery of a decomposed body of an unidentified person near Totabengre near Panambur here have succeeded in identifying the body, and arriving at the conclusion that it was a case of murder and not suicide. They also have arrested the murder-accused.

The police have found that the body belongs to a fishing worker named Antony. He had worked for a fishing boat owned by Amit Kotian from Totabengre for a few days. It is learnt that Amit got angry at Antony, after observing that the latter, during his visits to his house, was eyeing the former's wife with lustful eyes when she was engaged in household chores like washing of clothes.

The policemen found that on February 3, Amit, with the help of his friend, Francis alias Bend Francis, attacked Antony brutally, and murdered him by dropping on him a sharp branch of a guava tree.

The police have arrested Amit Kotian. Further investigation is on.
